Silk Cocoon I

The vase is covered with two layers of Bourette silk and anorak cord. The base layer has long floats that give a silk cocoon-like expression. The top layer is a more transparent structure that frames the cocoon. The multi colored warp is made by sowing silk threads into the monochrome wool warp of the loom, and later removing the wool threads. The four Silk Cocoons are currently being constructed for the 30th Anniversary Exhibition of Digital Weaving Norway.
