The Textile Vessels project is an ongoing exploration in which found ceramic objects are used as skeletons for three-dimensional textile experiments, creating a dialogue between surface and structure. Melvær incorporates silk, wool, and selvages from her Røros Tweed designs, employing techniques ranging from traditional band weaving to digital jacquard. The slow, labor-intensive process invites reflection on time, material, and value. Each piece serves as a quiet protest against fast consumption—and a vessel for memory, craft, and transformation.

Kristine Five Melvær (b. 1984) designs tableware, lighting, furniture, graphic design, clothes and textile objects. She holds a Masters degree in Industrial Design from AHO, and a Masters degree in Visual Communication from KHiO. She collaborates with a wide range of manufacturers, including Poltrona Frau, When Objects Work, HAY, Longchamp, Vestre and Heymat. Through her long term collaboration with Røros Tweed, Melvær has developed an increased interest in textiles. In recent years, she has experimented with weaving on different looms.

All the vessels are hand made in Melvær’s studio in Oslo in 2025 in collaboration with intern Thea Emilia Stjernberg Vågen.
